Lauren Fleshman loves running, and she's really good at it. She's an excellent narrator, too, giving a polished performance full of energy and authenticity. She conveys the joy of winning, the grit and pain as she hits her physical limit at the end of a 5,000-meter race, the despair of injury, and the constant nagging worry that Nike will dock her pay if she runs too slowly. Fleshman seeks to change the poisonous system that causes rampant eating disorders among young female runners and requires skimpy uniforms that don't aid performance, chosen for their appeal to men. To add insult to injury, they're based on men's physiology and result in men's achieving peak performance at a younger age than women. A fun and important listen.
