This audiobook is a beautifully told family saga that balances past and present storylines to keep the listener in suspense. Victoria Nassif is the voice of Betty, a Palestinian American woman who is considering returning "home" to a motherland she's never known. Haneen Murphy portrays Betty's deceased ancestor, Aunt Nuha, whose story is told through the pages of a discovered diary. The narrators work well together, creating a tale that explores loss and identity. As Betty wrestles with her place in the world and her sexuality, she discovers that she is not the first in the family to have done so.
