Jane has settled into normalcy with a decent but dead-end job, a loving family, and an absent-minded father. Then she receives an email from her estranged twin sister, Lila, hinting that she knows the location of their mother. Troop gives each character a distinct voice. Her narration works well to build tension around the mystery of the mother and the reason the sisters feel the need to go to great lengths to find her.
