RESURRECTIONS

This amalgamation of short stories, poems, and other genres defies categorization. Nancy Wu's performance follows suit, bringing a masterful versatility that marks each chapter with its own uniqueness. The collection opens with "Variations on a Theme from Turandot," in which a young slave slowly alters the narrative of the opera she acts in each night. The work that follows,"Jenny's House," involves a child who brings a malevolent ball of slime to show-and-tell. "Transitional Chords" shows the otherworldly events that can occur when two students bond through music. "The Scrape of Tooth and Bone" combines robotics with fossil hunting. The stories feature children, abuse survivors, neurodivergent people, and queer folks. Wu's committed performances help each find their power and agency.
