GESUNDHEIT!

by | Read by Arte Johnson

Biography & Memoir • 6 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1993

When I think of Arte Johnson, I recall "Very interesting--but stupid," his trademark punchline from his days on "Laugh-In." With his narration of GESUNDHEIT!, Johnson demonstrates his expertise reading audiobooks. GESUNDHEIT! is the memoir of Patch Adams, M.D., the founder of the Gesundheit Institute, a free hospital dedicated to caring for patients as people, not just collections of symptoms. Robin Williams played the title role in the movie, PATCH ADAMS, and it's clear that a comedic mind fits in with Adams's unique form of compassionate medicine. Johnson's narration is top-notch. His style brings the book to life. The reader gets the feel of Adams's life, his dreams, and his wonderful perspective that patients should be treated not only with medicine, but with laughter, concern, and respect. This is a superb audiobook, and Johnson's masterful narration is very interesting and definitely not stupid. D.J.S. © AudioFile 2000, Portland, Maine [Published: DEC/JAN 01]
