DARK APNEA

Fans of the popular "Mystery Science Theater 3000" TV series will delight in listening to Frank Conniff narrate his own novel, essentially a clever, sardonic comic monologue. The over-the-top bleakness of the darkest superhero movies--the films that took the fun out of Batman--are mercilessly and wittily mocked throughout. Dark Apnea, a would-be superhero in a sleep apnea mask and the gown he wore during sleep disorder tests, pursues villains, pausing only to record his cleverest repartee for posterity and contemplate whether to develop his very own crime-fighting devices or just order them from Amazon. Thankfully, his much wiser female assistant, Unpaid Intern, is there to help when needed, which is often. A MAD MAGAZINE sensibility and perfect comic timing bring listeners every absurdity.
