Television journalist Claire St. Amant takes listeners behind the scenes of her job as a reporter and producer for "48 Hours." St. Amant does a fine job of narrating the audiobook herself--though at times some of the more emotional aspects of the work might have been better performed by a seasoned actor. That said, momentum is enough to propel the listener forward. St. Amant's revelation that the "trick" of good reporting comes with planning, patience, and plain old luck rings true. She examines the backgrounds of stories of nationally known events such as the plastic surgeon who turned into a murderer, the Parkland High School shootings, and other horrible crimes that will ring familiar with many listeners.
