DRAGON'S FIRE

Dick Hill does a masterful job narrating the latest Pern novel. His strong voice gives subtle variations to each speaker without developing full vocal characterizations. He is gifted in capturing the range of emotions expressed by the large cast of characters and is equally convincing in articulating fear, irony, and desperation. Hill faces a unique challenge presented by the character of Pella, a mute orphan. These communications, written on a slate, are woven seamlessly into the flow of the narrative.
