Scott Brick's narration breathes life into Meltzer's debut (1998) thriller. Brick's crisp reading and sardonic tone carry this implausible story. If you can believe that a Yale Law School graduate, a fledgling clerk to a U.S. Supreme Court Justice, can be blackmailed into revealing court secrets in advance of court decisions, this book is for you. If you can believe that the protagonist, his fellow clerk, and three roommates form a posse to bring down the villain, then this book is really for you. On the other hand, if you're a Scott Brick fan and you look forward to hearing his intonation, his precise diction, and his humorous take on characters, you’ll probably ignore this goofy plot and listen with a satisfied grin.
