BLACK GIRL, WHITE GIRL

In the newly independent Caribbean nation of Tampica, trade in "the white girl"--cocaine--threatens to become the island's chief economic activity. In the eighteenth of Moyes's long-running series, Detective Chief Inspector Henry Tibbet and his wife, Emmy, leave London to help a multinational task force break the Tampica link. Donada Peters's clear British voice is ideal for the English characters, and the accent she gives Caribbean islanders is convincing. She is less successful with Americans, making them sound like New York tough guys whether they're good or bad.
