Alan Sklar, with his warm voice and flawless diction, helps make these ideas sound both important and worth savoring. His voice has the quality of a seasoned, well-liked actor or singer. But in many parts of this performance, slow pacing makes some of the long, complex sentences difficult to digest. Pauses after some phrases are so long or ill placed that some listeners may think a sentence has concluded when, in fact, there is more, sometimes much more, to come.
