CATCH OF THE DAY

When Maggie Beaumont isn’t busy running her diner in Gideon Cove, Maine, or bringing meals to firemen and elderly neighbors, she dreams about finding the perfect man to complete the life she shares with her beloved dog, Colonel. Narrator Xe Sands captures the range of Maggie’s emotions: a playful delivery of Maggie’s ironic comebacks, a quivering voice in Maggie’s moments of grief, and an abrupt sharpness in a flash of anger. Sands showcases a convincing range of voices, especially for the male characters.
