Instead, she finds herself giving sanctuary to animals and people who need rescuing and, in the process, finds herself. Narrator Carrington MacDuffie keeps listeners wrapped up in the story and its characters. She adeptly moves between them, giving the young cowboy the gruff and changing voice of an adolescent, Cassie's old love interest a manly, sexy voice, and the unlikable fiancé an unpleasant voice.
