In thirteenth-century China, aspiring scholar and fledgling forensic investigator Cí Song gets caught in a web of tragedy, intrigue, and danger. As the ever twisting plot continues, Cí Song finds himself investigating a series of murders. Narrator Todd Haberkorn is perfectly matched to this book. His easy pronunciation of names and places transports the listener to a very different time and culture. Haberkorn's reading is perfectly timed, allowing the plot to race forward without the narration sounding hurried. Although the story is gruesome at times, this audiobook offers something a little different for CSI and historical mystery fans. K.J.P. © AudioFile 2013, Portland, Maine [Published: JULY 2013]
