COMPOUND FRACTURES Dr. Alan Gregory, Book 20

Stephen White's series of novels featuring Boulder, Colorado, psychologist Alan Gregory comes to a satisfying close with this book, a sequel of sorts to LINE OF FIRE. An old death investigation resurfaces and brings with it ghosts of Gregory's past he hoped were long buried. The story is very complex, made even more so by a large cast of characters. Narrator Dick Hill, with his trademark measured delivery, tries to keep the characters distinct, but it's a difficult task. Hill often speaks haltingly, drawing out the words in a grandfatherly fashion. When the action speeds up, Hill does prove up to the challenge.
