Here is popular history at its very best— in its historical interest, its skill in storytelling, and its excellent match of the narrator’s voice to text and author. Knowing the story already makes it possible to listen to this closing chapter alone and, at the same time, won’t prevent listeners from being on the edge of their seats throughout.
