This year the Audie Awards celebrated their 30th anniversary with a gala event in New York City, where industry pioneers shared their memories of how the world of audiobooks has changed and grown over the years. Some highlights included actor and author Whoopi Goldberg, who won the Audie for Narration by the Author for her memoir BITS AND PIECES. Whoopi is a huge audiobook fan herself, and in her acceptance speech, she thanked the many narrators who live on her phone and tell her stories. Barbra Streisand's 48-hour-long memoir MY NAME IS BARBRA was named Audiobook of the Year and also won for Best Autobiography/Memoir. Julia Whelan was the winner for Best Fiction Narrator for Kristin Hannah's THE WOMEN, and Justin Vivian Bond won Best Non-Fiction Narrator for CANDY DARLING.

Kate McKinnon and her sister Emily Lynne won the Audie for Humor for McKinnon's middle-grade novel, THE MILLICENT QUIBB SCHOOL OF ETIQUETTE FOR YOUNG LADIES OF MAD SCIENCE.

Author and narrator Travis Baldree won the Audie for Fantasy for his cozy fantasy audiobook BOOKSHOPS & BONEDUST. Dominic Hoffman won the Audie for Literary Fiction & Classics for Percival Everett's much-lauded JAMES. We named Dominic a Golden Voice last year, and you can listen to our wonderful interview with him here.

Chuck Tingle's BURY YOUR GAYS won the Audie in the Judges Category for Horror, narrated by André Santana with a full cast.

Audiobook power couple January LaVoy and Will Damron won the Audie for Best Mystery for LISTEN FOR THE LIE by Amy Tintera.
