Christina Moore superbly narrates this charming fantasy classic, depicting the peaceful, homogeneous, and predictable world of the Minnipins. Each main character has a unique voice and personality, which Moore develops through intonation, pacing, and inflection. We hear the characters develop confidence, trust their growing friendship, and feel their building courage as they work together. Moore also builds the tension, contrasting the inflexible leaders with the free-spirited individuals who choose to leave their village, rather than give up their creative spirit. In the inevitable battle between good and evil, as well as in the satisfying ending, Moore gently imparts lessons about individuality, courage, flexibility, and acceptance. W.L.S.
