Wolfe has been glorified, but not here; Hibbert takes a careful look in this short history and likes some of what he sees, and doesn't like other aspects of the general. Wolfe was vain, sickly, unsure of himself, intolerant of other opinions, and brave to foolhardiness. In the famous pre-Revolutionary War confrontation, he outmaneuvered (barely) the French and Montcalm at Quebec City, but both generals died as the English won the day and, not long after, Canada. David Case is one of the most prolific readers of audiobooks. He speaks in British accents with a laid-back, slightly sardonic style that fits most of what he reads.
