WWII AIRMEN Amazing Accounts of Airmen Recorded During the War

by | Read by Various Readers

History • 2.5 hrs. • Audio Program • © 2000

The content is a surprising variety of WWII memorabilia, ranging from actual wireless transmissions from planes in combat to the reading of airmen's personal letters and a men's choir singing a squadron's bawdy songs in barbershop harmony. The sound quality varies, from the introduction of the audiobook in hi-fi stereo (very good), to old broadcasts preserved on a wire recorder (acceptable), to pilots' radio calls (filled with static and cut-outs). The vignettes are presented in a pleasant collage to provide an entertaining, as well as instructive experience. Most of the recording is old, but it appears that some was scripted to provide the transitions. J.A.H. (c) AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/MAY 02]
