Narrator Alex Dimitriades skillfully narrates the simple, yet amazingly complex, story of a man who slaps the face of a spoiled child who is waving a baseball bat near his son. Dimitriades's near-perfect skills make the listener understand the complicated emotions felt by all those people touched by this simple act. He clearly understands the author's desire to show how reasonable people can be propelled to act unreasonably when faced with something that rocks the core of their world. No one is perfect, just as no one is evil. And everyone has something to hide. Dimitriades forces one to listen and take sides, and then doubt one's decision--more than once.
