BOMBER

BOMBER shatters the myths of glory-based wartime fly-boy stories. Len Deighton's portrayal of a single day during WWII serves to knock readers right between the eyes with the raw ugliness of armed conflict. James Faulkner adds to this memorable experience through his wonderful vocal impressions of this large and complex cast of characters. He seems to somehow project the essence of major characters into his reading. Action sequences are presented with real emotion that draws listeners into each dogfight and interpersonal conflict. Although the book does lose a bit of steam at midpoint, Faulkner's presentation keeps listeners on track to a conclusion that is worth the wait. T.J.M.
