ONCE TOO OFTEN

by | Read by Terrence Hardiman

Mystery & Suspense • 7.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1998

Inspector Thanet, of the town of Sturrenden, called to the scene of what looks to be an accidental death, finds a myriad of lies that point instead to murder. For Thanet, Terrence Hardiman uses a natural speaking voice, with intonations matching the emotional states of the inspector. Hardiman gives Sergeant Mike Lineham a keener, crisper accent, which reflects his youth and vigor. He varies his tones, pronunciations, and rate of speech as he portrays the minor characters, highlighting his ability to play many roles. Hardiman slips easily into a cockney accent with the blue-collar characters, and these become his best efforts. The numerous voices parallel the complex plot of the story. P.A.J.
