TROUBLE IS A FRIEND OF MINE

Zoe is marking time until she can transfer to a private school. Then Philip Digby shows up. Digby is bent on discovering the truth behind his sister’s kidnapping long ago and its connection to a recent girl’s disappearance. Narrator Kathleen McInerney’s portrayal of Digby makes apparent his charisma, brash disrespect for rules, and acute observations. Listeners will understand why he draws Zoe into dangerous, daring situations as McInerney shows Zoe’s transformation from a priggish and dubious girl to a witty young woman who holds her own as Digby’s accomplice. Overall, McInerney’s rendering of their charged, dynamic dialogue brings out the humor and the intensity of darker moments as well as the suspense. Fingers crossed this dynamic duo returns. S.W.
