LETTERS FROM THE AGE OF REASON

by | Read by Kathleen McInerney, Jeff Woodman

Fiction • 15 hrs. • Abridged • © 2001

Nora Hague's novel, set during the Civil War, is told from the perspectives of Arabella Leeds, read by Kathleen McInerney; and Aubrey Paxton, read by Jeff Woodman. Each story is compelling on its own. McInerney reads the part of moneyed and privileged Arabella beautifully, while Woodman reads Aubrey's narration with dignity and deep feeling. Each performer expertly captures the essence of his or her character, conveying clearly the urgency and drama of forbidden love. The ending is somewhat predictable, but solid performances and a perfect abridgment make for an enjoyable listen. H.L.S. (c) AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine [Published: AUG/SEP 02]
