MURDER MYSTERIES begins in Los Angeles--the city of Angels--where a young Englishman (played by Michael Emerson) is on a stopover. At a park bench he shares a cigarette with a drifter, played by Brian Dennehy, who reveals himself to be Zephkiel, angel of vengeance, and unveils a story of murder set in heaven prior to the creation. Dennehy’s narration of the story-within-a-story is superbly natural and understated. The production quality is more than adequate, but is completely eclipsed by the powerful story that explores morality and cosmology and at its end delivers a shocking revelation. In SNOW GLASS APPLES, Tony Award-winning Bebe Neuwirth (SWEET CHARITY, CHICAGO, and TV’s “Cheers”) narrates the story of Snow White, told from the point of view of the queen/stepmother. In this darkly disturbing version of the classic fairy tale--NOT intended for children--the princess who takes refuge among the dwarves is a bloodthirsty succubus who threatens to destroy her late father’s kingdom. SciFi.com’s Brian Smith pulled out the stops for this final audio drama of the Seeing Ear Theatre series. A brilliant and moving full-cast performance of Gaiman’s original story with Mark Evan's as the prince and Kate Simses as the evil princess.
