This story captures the life of a young girl as she grows up in the Northeastern United States. Marguerite Gavin's clear, high voice makes this pleasant listening, except for the spots where she speaks too quickly. She voices several characters, doing the best with Elsie's father. She does less well with the old African-American servants, whose Southern accents sound fake. This story about a passive, obedient girl who loves God is almost too sweet.
