This paired audio biography examines the lives and events leading to the most famous duel in American history. The roots of the violent confrontation lie far in the pasts of the two principals, Hamilton and Burr, almost to their births. Author Sedgwick contends that each was almost a Hyde to the other's Jekyll. P.J. Ochlan offers a solid narration that keeps the narrative flowing and interested listeners engaged. His tone is even but far from monotonous. However, direct quotes are not clearly indicated, so occasionally it's unclear whether comments or assessments are those of the author or a source from the Hamilton/Burr era. Nonetheless, the audiobook is enlightening, and diligent listeners are certain to learn a lot. R.C.G. © AudioFile 2016, Portland, Maine [Published: APRIL 2016]
