POPPY DAY

The sound values in this audiobook are exceptional. A beginning piece of instrumental music serves to tie the story together as well as offers comfortable melodies to the ear. The voice of Judith Porter rounds out the excellence of the production. The backdrop of the story is Birmingham, England, prior to WWI. Young Jessica Hart has run away from her motherless home, where she is continually emotionally assaulted by her father and stepmother. She stays with her aunt and cousins in the city, and the listener partakes of her experience as she lives through the war. Porter defines each character so well vocally and sets one apart from another so well dramatically that one listens to this romantic history as if it were a play. J.P.
