The author of excellent books on courage and vulnerability offers her thoughts on raising children. It's a stand-alone audio discussion that is delivered almost entirely in extemporaneous lessons and stories, but the 10 guideposts Brown offers sound well organized and coherent. Her appealing delivery is memorable for her fearless self-expression and charming emotional commitment to these ideas. Her performance leaves no doubt about the universal truths in her message. The backbone of the audio is the idea that families should be safe places where children can feel they belong and are worthy enough to make good life choices. It's a powerful reminder of the importance of classic parenting priorities such as encouraging creativity and hard work, setting limits and being compassionate, and teaching resilience in the face of destructive cultural messages.
