THE IMPROBABILITY OF LOVE

What starts as a caricature of the art world concludes, almost despite itself, as a study of the transformative power of love. Narrator Jilly Bond plunges listeners into the foppish art coterie who are directing all their efforts toward profiting from a recovered masterpiece, THE IMPROBABILITY OF LOVE. Annie, the hapless heroine, sets events in motion when she offhandedly purchases a thrift shop painting for a boyfriend she'll soon discover has dumped her. While Bond does most of the heavy lifting--portraying docents, dandies, drunks, and aging debutantes--Barnaby Edwards as the painting (yes, the painting speaks) puts in short stints, delivering with delicious acerbity all the best lines.
