DEATH OF A SNOB

Earphones Award Winner

by | Read by Davina Porter

Mystery & Suspense • 4.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1991

Poor Hamish Macbeth. He’s got a miserable cold, and his mother has just called to say he can’t come home for Christmas. When the gorgeous Jane Wetherby invites him to spend the holiday at her Scottish island health farm to figure out who is trying to kill her, he agrees to come. The odd assortment of guests includes Heather Todd, an insufferable snob, and it is she, in fact, who ends up murdered. Davina Porter is masterful in this performance--the Scottish voices are right on target--and the personalities of the characters, male and female, old and young, just burst through with her interpretations. The pathetic, self-pitying, but lovable Macbeth is charmingly portrayed. Beaton always provides a humorous light touch, and Porter gets the comic timing perfectly. S.S.R.
