CROOKED KINGDOM Six of Crows, Book 2

Bardugo's latest picks up where her fantastical heist thriller, SIX OF CROWS, left off. Kaz Brekker and members of the Dregs street gang are reeling from their dangerous endeavor. The ensemble of narrators delivers a compelling performance that includes vocal pacing tailored to the text, skillful switching between breakneck action sequences, and thoughtful personal reflection. All the ensemble's voices are pleasingly distinct; however, some characters are over-the-top and differ drastically from the voice of the original narrator reading that narrative point of view. Listeners may find this disparity jarring and confusing. On the other hand, Lauren Fortgang and Elizabeth Evans bring particular emotional depth to the voices of Inej and Nina.
