Vera Tarman has personal experience with food addiction; Phil Wardell has seen it in both himself and a grandmother. Narrator Lisa Bunting, speaking as Tarman, sounds believable and relatable as she advises on how to deal with this issue. She also keeps listeners riveted through the stories of clients that make up much of the book. Among the most compelling is a drug dealer who is struggling with both food and substance addictions. While much of the book is personal, Tarman also provides scientific background on the effects of sugar, leptin resistance, and other factors in food addiction. Listeners could find themselves thinking twice about consuming diet soda or other habit-forming foods. J.A.S. © AudioFile 2017, Portland, Maine [Published: MARCH 2017]
