HAIR RAISER Bad Hair Day, Book 2

Narrator Mary Ann Jacobs sparkles as Marla Shore, owner of Fort Lauderdale's Curl 'N' Dye Salon, who mentally evaluates everyone's hairstyles as this mystery unfolds. Marla is running Taste of the World, a fund-raiser for an organization that protects beaches, when celebrity chef Pierre's Bananas Foster ignites and several board members die. Listeners will enjoy Marla's clever style of interrogating suspects through small talk at her trendy salon. Jacobs's best creations are Marla's overprotective Jewish mother and her neighbor Moss, who always greets her with one of his own limericks (also well recited). Local detective Dalton Vail's frustration with Marla's interference provides just enough romance to add spice without diverting from a clever conclusion.
