Returning to the travails of the Wescott family, narrator Rosalyn Landor carries the listener along as Camille Wescott goes from spoiled aristocrat to mature young woman. Having been declared illegitimate, Camille takes refuge teaching in an orphanage, where she meets Jack Cunningham. Jack, a painter who teaches art to the children, grew up in the orphanage. The listener will chuckle at Landor's portrayals of the children and Camille's adventures teaching them. Landor captures Camille's struggles with her new situation and her growing attraction to Jack. Jack as well goes through changes and has to make adjustments to what he thought he knew about himself and his life. Listeners will enjoy the opportunity to revisit characters from the first book in the series. S.B. © AudioFile 2017, Portland, Maine [Published: APRIL 2017]
