Actress Annabelle Gurwitch recounts some of the highlights of growing up in a family with a colorful and quirky history. She also provides her thoughts on religion, people's devotion to their pets, adult summer camp, marketing, and show business, among others topics. In general, she takes on a sarcastic and somewhat deadpan tone when describing her family's foibles, and even more so in the other sections. Gurwitch's pacing is comfortably slow, which helps to emphasize her low-key comedic approach. However, her voice does become emotional at the end when she talks about caring for her aging parents and confronting their mortality. S.E.G. © AudioFile 2017, Portland, Maine [Published: JULY 2017]
