Graham Winton narrates the first installment of the Cahill Ranch series with just enough twang to feel at home in the western setting of this audiobook. This story introduces the Cahill family, youngest daughter Lillie in particular. The love of Lillie's life skipped town nine years earlier when he was falsely suspected of murder. Now he's back to try to clear his name, but Lillie's brother just happens to be the sheriff who still thinks Trask's guilty. The family dynamics of the Cahill clan are well drawn, and the mystery is intriguing. There are subplots setting up future stories, which make the pace a bit choppy, but the narration is a delight and the story entertaining.
