Dawson provides a sincere support book on understanding and accepting gender and sexual identities that is useful for parents, adults who work with youth, and the youth themselves. Narrator Christopher Solimene's delivery is gentle and inviting, the exact kind of voice listeners need for the sometimes complicated and uncomfortable conversations the audiobook guides them through. However, that approach is also production's weakness. Early on, his deliberate and emphatic voice sets the right tone, but after the first hour, listeners may experience audio fatigue as his tone begins to sound condescending. Happily, Solimene does deviate from this approach with a more candid voice when quoting from the various people Dawson interviewed for the book.
