Deepak Chopra, who is from India, is one of America's best-known immigrants. In this audiobook he takes on questions of immigration as both an author and a narrator. Each of the 34 poems in this audiobook is written by an immigrant and inspired by another, sometimes famous, immigrant, such as Joni Mitchell (from Canada), Madeleine Albright (from Czechoslovakia), and Yo Yo Ma (from France). However, the poems do not always clearly convey the contributions of those who inspired them. Some biographical notes would help. Chopra's voice is expressive, but his enunciation is not always easy on the American ear. There are no credits stating who wrote each poem, or whether they are all collaborations. Twelve of the poems have also been adapted as songs, which follow the complete collection. D.M.H. © AudioFile 2017, Portland, Maine [Published: OCTOBER 2017]
