Narrator Nile Bullock portrays 12-year-old Lolly, who copes with his brother's death and rebuilds his life by constructing Lego structures. Creating brings Lolly wonder and comfort from the anxiety of a gang-ridden neighborhood and his brother's crew connection. Gradually, Lolly becomes more empathic than angry, and his competitive spirit turns to collaboration through friendship with Rose, an autistic girl who shares his passion for building. Bullock also renders the caring of minor characters who support Lolly. As nurturers guide him, he makes an important decision to avoid violence and devote himself to learning. The author reads a final note that explains his love of languages and the importance of listening to others. S.W. © AudioFile 2017, Portland, Maine [Published: NOVEMBER 2017]
