Although almost everyone knows who Isaac Newton was, many of us have never heard of Robert Hooke and Edmond Halley, two other science giants whose accomplishments are captured in this entertaining and educational audiobook. Authors John and Mary Gribbin outline Hooke's and Halley's numerous achievements, arguing persuasively that they deserve an equal place in scientific history. Because the book contains some technical material, it's a challenging text to perform in audio, but John Curless handles the task flawlessly. Curless paces the material well, slowing down at moments that require more focus from the listener, while using a brisker pace for the sections that provide the necessary context for Hooke's and Halley's contributions to our collective scientific knowledge.
