Listeners will wonder if this highly entertaining audiobook is truly fiction as they listen to dialogue from both the White House and the Kremlin. Narrator Adam Grupper's deft use of accents and emotions defines author Rosenberg's characters. The audiobook features a Russian leader who wants to return his country to its days of glory by provoking a war, an American president who works from the gut rather than following the recommendations of his advisers, and a Russian aide/American spy who will do whatever he must to stop the war from starting. Grupper's accents are realistic, and he enhances them with a seemingly endless range of vocal intensity, all of which combine to bring this audiobook to life in a way the printed page cannot.
