The award for best sexy Boston accent officially goes to narrator Joe Arden for his depiction of 30-year old nightclub owner Gage Holt. Arden's gravelly Southie accent brings out Gage's rough upbringing and relationship-averse personality. When Gage meets Skyler, a psychology graduate student, they move quickly from sex to serious. Arden's voice for Skyler is low, which matches Kennedy's description of her, and gives her a serious quality. Arden also navigates Gage through his childhood issues and his rocky relationship with his younger brother. Skyler's despair over Gage's withdrawn nature comes with equal emotional punch. This story moves quickly through the stages of their relationship. With Arden's intense narration, listeners will wish it lasted a lot longer. C.A.
