THE BOOK OF BOY

Prepare to suspend modern beliefs and enter medieval France, 1350, a jubilee year for the Roman Catholic Church--a time steeped in pilgrimages, superstitions, and relic worship. Boy is a young, hunchbacked goatherd who is unexpectedly pressed into service by Secundus, a mysterious pilgrim. Tim Gerard Reynolds narrates Boy's account of his travels with the strange relic seeker. Reynolds bubbles with Boy's earnest, enthusiastic sincerity as he puzzles out the nature of truth and goodness while aiding the forbidding Secundus in his quest. As Secundus, Reynolds's voice is gruff and impatient, barking orders at the good-natured Boy. Occasionally, as Boy considers somber issues or danger, Reynolds's voice trails off, becoming nearly inaudible--the only flaw in this stellar presentation.
