With the unexplained absence of the Montana pack's alpha male, Bran, wolf-shifter mates Charles Cornick and Anna Latham take on the responsibility of uncovering a pack traitor. Narrator Holter Graham has a slightly growly voice for Charles and a light, calm voice for Anna, both of which suit Briggs's paranormal power couple. Graham keeps numerous werewolf and fae characters distinct with different voices and several different accents. When Anna and Charles talk mind-to-mind and aloud, it is difficult to distinguish between the two forms of communication in the audiobook. Also, Graham's phrasing is halting and lacks a smooth pace. Listeners may be distracted by the pauses. Graham's neutral style--although suiting the characters' personalities--sometimes fails to convey the life-or-death situations these cool customers face.
