Dolly Parton, a queen of the country music scene, grew up dirt poor in Appalachia. In this audiobook, which is part biography and part self-improvement, the listener learns how to live the Dolly Parton way. Therese Plummer's slight Appalachian intonations go well with the text, though her drawn-out syllables may have the listener a bit distracted at times. However, when narrating Dolly's own words, Plummer channels the larger-than-life entertainer, perfectly capturing her distinct voice, making one almost believe that Dolly herself is speaking. Full of delightful "Dollyisms" and biographical details, this audiobook is an enjoyable listen for fans of the prolific performer. A.L.S.M. © AudioFile 2018, Portland, Maine [Published: MAY 2018]
