Now writing as Amanda Allen, she gives us the first in the Sante Fe Revival Mysteries, introducing us to intrepid New York socialite Maddie Vaughn-Alwin. Narrator Amy McFadden's voice is well suited to the romantic tone of this narrative. Having lost her husband in the Great War, Maddie creates a new home and art studio for herself in Sante Fe but soon finds herself committed to solving a murder. McFadden does an especially good job creating voices for the Anayas family members from the Pueblo, who serve as household help and substitute family for Maddie.
