JOHN ADAMS

by | Read by Nelson Runger

Biography & Memoir • 30.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2001

This book is a veritable feast for anyone interested in good history. McCullough has written a wonderful book on a person who, oddly enough, has not been the subject of a readable biography. Narrator Nelson Runger brings all of his tools to this job. He's authoritative, clear, concise and, as usual, easy to follow. Runger has a no-nonsense voice that suits the project very well, and his phrasing allows us to follow this comprehensive story. The latter is an especially important point because McCullough has divided the book into chapters, which are then divided into sections. Runger has to stop often, announce a new section, pause, and move on. With a less talented reader this might be cause for concern. With Runger, it's just another day at the office.
