Clare Corbett narrates this thought-provoking story of a world in which men, women--anyone--can have a baby. With FullLife's baby pouch, couples share the joy of carrying and nurturing their babies, resulting in unprecedented equality and freedom. That's the party line, at least, but, as Eva and Piotr discover, unsettling developments suggest that all is not right at FullLife. Corbett's narration is versatile and deft, moving skillfully between the clear precision of the omniscient narrator and the heartrending sorrow of grieving parents. Her depiction of Holly, initially imperious and adamant but later pale and uncertain, is nothing short of masterful. Corbett seamlessly incorporates strangled cries, sobs, and voices that shake with age and emotion, creating a full-bodied, not-to-be-missed listening experience.
